FOOTBALL, LIFE, JESUS

What Do Football and the
Gospel Have In Common?

More than you’d think!

Gospel Principles for Coaching on the Gridiron and for life Beyond the Field

If you are involved in coaching, training, or encouraging young athletes, this is a powerful resource you can use.

What does the Gospel have in common with the Gridiron?

Are the principles that lead to success on the field also applicable to success in life?

40-day Journey Towards Success

This powerful devotional will take you on a 40-day journey towards living a life of significance and success.

Of course, we all define success differently. In football, success can be defined as a winning season or winning the championship—but this book, while indeed based on football principles and analogies, is more than just about being successful on the field. It’s about being a successful person whose life benefits and lifts up others—a person who makes others better—a person who has a team mentality as opposed to a “My way or the highway” approach to life.

Why I wrote this book?</span

“Randy Alligood, attorney, husband, dad, mentor, football coach…and now author”

I love football. More than that, I love communicating what I have learned over the years about why the Gospel is good news.

Just about every day at practice, I would connect a football principle with a life principle and, ultimately, the Gospel. Football is a great teacher of life. So, I wrote some of what I had been communicating as a volunteer high school football coach.

I have also noticed over the years that many coaches love their players and want so much to help them succeed in life. This book is for them and, of course, their dads, moms, other relatives, and friends, who each play such an important role in the life and success of an athlete.

Training Heart, Mind, and Body

May God bless you in your endeavor to come alongside your athlete to establish a successful heart and mind.

This book will help you train the heart and mind for godliness.

Scripture says that “physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things” (1 Tim. 4:8).

Frankly, we spend too much time thinking about ourselves, mostly about how we measure up, how good we are, how bad we are, how mad we are, and so on.
But spiritual training comes from knowing and banking on the work of Christ, from the beginning, now, and forever. Spiritual maturity means thinking more about Him in amazement than thinking about us and our plans. Therefore, I do my best to point you to Christ. I am grateful for the opportunity to share these short devotions with you.
As the Bible says, there is nothing new under the sun (Eccl. 1:9). Most of what I share comes from other coaches, books I’ve read, and my own experiences. If it helps, insert your experiences in place of mine to better illustrate the point I make.
